A Walk In The Woods

Faerie Springs, Soothing Greens

(Click on any picture for a larger view...)

I went for a walk at Monte Bello Open Space Preserve this past weekend. I really needed it, and I really enjoyed the exercise and the clear air. This is a great time of year to go out for a walk. Warm enough, and still lots of green and flowing water.

I was up there early enough to delight in the lingering mists, fog, and clouds hanging in the valleys.

I stumbled across a very beautiful stream that popped up out of the ground and then would dive back down, over and over, along the route. Lots of little waterfalls and beautiful moss-covered rocks and trees.

There was so much to see and enjoy.

I was reminded of the lore of old Europe, where every spring, well, pond, or lake was watched over by a spirit - one of the Fairie Folk, or one of the Sidhe, depending on your semantics.

As I passed by these upwellings and falls, I enjoyed communing and communicating with these delicate places and loving care-takers. I received many gifts on this walk, including a really healthy amount of exercise!

I found beautiful moss covering rocks, nooks, crannies... Strange rocks, actually, that looked like they were agglomerations ovoids - like clams, kind of - and mini stalagmites and stalactites. Quite unexpected.

I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I enjoyed the walk. Welcome, Springtime!
